In a video that quickly went viral on TikTok, Josh Kerr, a resident of Manchester, shared a surprising discovery that has been accumulating nearly 1 million views.

Kerr revealed that living in a five-star luxury resort in Turkey with all-inclusive could cost less than living in his apartment in the city.
The TikToker, who pays £950 per month to live in an apartment in central Manchester, discovered that a 28-night stay at the Xoria Deluxe Resort in Antalya, Turkey, including flights from Manchester, would cost just £938. In the video, he expresses his surprise: “I just discovered that it’s cheaper to live in a 5-star all-inclusive resort than to live in Manchester.”
Kerr came to this conclusion after doing a search on the “On The Beach” website for a 28-night period starting April 1st. He comments ironically in the video about Manchester’s weather, showing his rainy window, while highlighting the advantages of living in a luxury resort, such as having all meals and drinks included.
Kerr’s discovery comes at a time when Manchester is considered the most expensive area in Greater Manchester for rent. Recent data from Zoopla indicate that the average rental cost in the area is about £1,163 per month. Kerr jokes in the video: “I’m not being funny, but I pay £950 for my rent, bills, council tax, and such. Here, you get breakfast, lunch, dinner, drinks, snacks… What are we doing in England?”
Kerr’s discovery has generated various reactions online, with one user commenting: “So WFH now means holiday work?” Another added: “I work online. I could totally do this,” while another mentioned: “Remote work seems even more attractive.”
